Defender LL6270 Low Level CO Monitor
The Defender LL6270 Low Level CO Monitor helps to protect against low CO poisoning by providing an early warning before CO levels reach 25 ppm averaged over 8 hours, which is the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) limit.
The Defender LL6270 (replaces the LL6170) is a professional-quality, low-level carbon monoxide monitor that continuously monitors the environment and displays levels of CO 5 ppm or higher. The LL6270 is an early detection CO alarm that flashes a red warning LED at 9 ppm, sounds an audible warning at 15 ppm, and activates an audible alarm at 25 ppm. The factory-sealed lithium batteries are non-removable and warranted to power the monitor for a minimum of 3 years. The battery life is less than that of some CO alarms due to the continuous monitoring - samples are measured every 5 seconds.
Why would you want the LL6270 vs the UL-approved CA6150? Keep in mind that carbon monoxide (CO) is an odorless, colorless gas that can cause death, and exposure to low CO levels (30 ppm or less) can cause long-term health damage even after the CO source is removed. The UL 2034 Safety Standard for Carbon Monoxide Alarms does not permit UL-listed CO alarms to activate an alarm below 30 ppm – ever! The Defender LL6270 is for people who know that the level is too high and want protection from low-level CO poisoning. To do so, the model LL6270 sets lower alarm thresholds more closely aligned with leading health, safety, and medical organizations rather than the UL-2034 standard of 70 ppm.

Alarm thresholds and alerts:
CO Alert at 9 PPM within 10 Mins
Displays CO level and “Alarm” red LED flashes 4 times per minute. Reset button suspends flashing LED for 8 hours.
CO Alarm at 15 PPM within 60 Mins
Displays CO level, beeps 4 times every minute, and “Alarm” red LED flashes in sync with beep. Mute silences for 8 hrs.
CO Alarm at 25 PPM ≤ 30 Mins
Displays CO level, beeps 4 times every 5 secs, and “Alarm” red LED flashes in sync with beep. Mute silences for 5 mins.
The UL 2034 Safety Standard for Residential Carbon Monoxide Alarms does not permit UL-listed CO alarms to activate an alarm below 30 ppm. The Defender LL6270 provides added protection for older adults, pregnant women, young children, and persons with medical conditions who may be more vulnerable to lower CO levels, and is not UL listed. This CO monitor is intended to supplement, not replace, a UL-listed CO alarm.
